With climate change the risk of infections is growing according to research by immigrant species of Ticks. Now a new species of dog ticks was discovered in Germany: The Brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) attacks, although dogs usually can be transferred in exceptional cases, but also on people. Previously, experts assumed that such ticks were taken of dogs on holidays abroad and in the fur brought it to Germany. But that does not appear to be so.
“Also, the specimens of dogs have been found, who had left her yard, never,” said the Parasitology login Ute Mackenstedt, University of Hohenheim. “This is an indication that the type can hold.” The Hohenheim researchers want to investigate how the Arachnid to Germany and how it spreads here. In addition, more should be found out, what pathogens it may be there and what can you do against the Brown dog tick, explains the Parasitology login Katrin Fachet.
Humans can also be infested
Normally, the Brown dog infests tick dogs. “The Population is too big and the landlord is not sufficient, then you is not picky, and the next best thing: looking for the people,” said Fachet. In the three to four Millimeter-sized type, no causative agent of Lyme’s disease or early summer has been tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) determined that it could work, but in the causative agent of Mediterranean spotted fever. Recently, the University of Hohenheim had warned of the very large Hyalomma tick, which has probably wintered for the first time in Germany. In Africa, Asia and southern Europe, domestic ticks can transfer dangerous pathogens such as the Virus that causes the Crimean Congo fever.
